Donna Sinclair and Bud Harris

Eugene “Bud” Harris grew up in Camas and lived most of his life in Clark County, and in his conversation reflects on his family’s journey from Kentucky to Washington State and the 15 years he worked in the Camas paper mill. In this segment, he tells his wife, Donna Sinclair, about how, as a navigator in a B-17 Bomber, his father was shot down over Verona, Italy in June, 1944. He lost his leg to the war, but he gained something, too: he came back to Camas, attended college on the GI Bill and ultimately opened a one-person law firm downtown. Eventually he became a municipal judge.

This conversation was recorded on October 5, 2024, at the Camas Public Library.
