We do this work under state Adopt-a-Highway agreements, and to date our teams have cleaned tens of thousands of pounds of trash from this scenic road. This project not only helps keep Highway 14 cleaner, but has educated us about the kind of trash that ends up along our highways. Lumber tags, commercial plastic sheeting and strapping, fast food containers, Styrofoam, beer can and liquor bottles — we find everything imaginable, but most of it is some type of plastic. Knowing that, ECCA advocates with our city and state legislators to step up laws already on the books against littering and consider new ways to reduce the volume of trash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
In the dry months, ECCA-organized teams go out about twice a month, usually on a Saturday or Sunday.
